Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plates have the appearance and feel of gelatine, but are durable, reusable and can be stored at room temperature. Gel Printing Plates are easy to clean and are always ready for printing. When monoprinting on a Gelli plate the technique is simple and the gratification is immediate. Gelli Arts recommends using acrylic paints when monoprinting with their plate. With regular acrylics you have to work fast, but you can slow the drying time by adding a retarder, acrylic glaze medium or Golden Open Medium to any acrylic paints. Our use Golden Open Acrylics which are perfect if you want to use highly pigmented paint with a longer workable time. There are lots of great tips and ideas on the Gelli Arts blog. These two videos give a quick idea of the possibilities. The second video demonstrates monoprinting in layers using Golden Open Acrylics, whose slow drying time makes them a perfect choice.
